W&L GOLF RANKED SECOND IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL
SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced
its preseason coaches poll for golf on Friday morning, with Washington
and Lee picked to finish second in the conference. The Generals trailed only Guilford College, who received
seven first place votes and 63 points. W&L garnered 52 points and
is followed by Randolph-Macon (46), Bridgewater (41), Hampden-Sydney (38),
Virginia Wesleyan (26), Roanoke (22), Lynchburg (20) and Emory & Henry
(7). Washington and Lee completed the fall season with a 305.2
team stroke average over 10 rounds. The Generals won the Virginia Division
III Championship and also claimed the McDaniel Ocean City Classic. Individually, sophomore Ted Williams (Vero Beach, Fla./St.
Edwards School) was the Virginia Division III Champion, while freshman
Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller) led the team with a 74.4 stroke
average over 10 rounds. Williams averaged 76.0 strokes per 18 holes. Washington and Lee opens the spring season on Monday as
it travels to the two-day Lenoir Rhyne Invitational. -- GENERALS -- |
